Question DVD Quality

Just a newbie question, I have been using DVD shrink for all my dvd's and then nero to burn, now I understand that the quality drops a bit when the dvd's are shrunk but does the sound quality suffer as well? If your dvd had 5.1 does it lose that as well?

Any answer would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers

Yeah it only compresses video files. Audio files are completely unaffected.

Thumbs up The Way TO Copy DVDs Fully with PERFECT MENUS,SOUND,MOVIE

undefinedundefined Hello, i know the progrmas where you get the BEST quality and it comes with the BEST sound, DTS, Dobly D 5.1, one of the programs is DVD Shrink which you have mentioned. Firstly Decrypt the DVD to your hardrive with DVD Decrypter, Download this for free. Then Download DVD Shrink for free. When you have decrypted the DVD to a folder. Open DVD Shrink and select `Open Files` and select where the files are and when the files have been analysed you will see the Sound at the side, you will see the sound DD.5.1 that means Dobly Digital 5.1 (Make sure that that is clicked) then go into Edit->Preferences->File I/O and then make sure Enable with nero is on. You HAVE to have nero, if no un tick this option and use another program to copy the Video_TS files onto DVD. When you go to burn a menu should come up make sure the Destinaion is to the DVD Writer, But MOST OF ALL MAKE SURE YOU TICK THE DEEP ANALYSIS BOX, THIS WILL INCREASE THE QUALITY, wait for it to finiish put it in the dvd player on your pc/tv and Enjoy!!!!!!

I would hardly say they are "perfect".

I was wonder the same thing last week, and I was also told the same that the audio quality is uneffected, but since MPEG2 supports audio and video in a single file, and the VOBs are being compressed, how do we know that the audio isn't also being compressed? Most of us probably cannot hear the difference between 44kHz and 30 kHz....

Well for one when I use CloneDVD the video and audio are selected by different options. I can either choose to leave or delete certain audio files, the same way I can choose to do the same to the video files. The encoder is only for video.
