Problems with US Browser Images

I'm a newbie to burning DC compatible discs and am having a major headache with creating a US browser disc (I'm sick of paying for those calls as well as forking out for a standard ISP)

The finshed disc usually ends up going to the audio playback/cd player mode on the DC.
and viewing the disk in my PC's drive shows no files:/

I have attempted to use vtx-web26.cdi and sa-browse bin/cue images from dccopyworld with no sucess at all. Using cdi2nero on the vtxweb image and burning with nero produced the same results.

I have however sucessfully burned a utopia disc and a flashrom blanking utility, using nero .nrg images. and am fairly sure my burner/DC are compatible. I'm using DJ3 in demo mode and a registered version of Nero5 with a memorex trimax burner.

If these images are not, as i suspect, utterly useless,
could someone tell me where I am going wrong with burning the browser disc. possibly a point by point walkthrough on getting it right?

This is driving me nuts.

post or reply by email to mrfrightful**********com

Thanks
Confused.

There's a whole line of utilities for CDI files that don't work for me, and as a result, the ISO's burn to a coaster.

CDIRIP, CDI2NERO, CDI2RAW, CDI2ISO - any of these utilities do nothing for me other than help me contribute to disc media manufacturers. Any disc that results from the above utilities is worthless for me.

I asked a similar question earlier, looking for a utility similar to ISOBUSTER for .CDI files and someone suggested CDMAGE.

I downloaded CDMAGE and it was able to read my troublesome WACKYRACERS.CDI file that I wasted 4-5 discs on already. I was able to extract the files to my hard drive and then burn them as an ISO. Be warned though, burning files to the disc, you need to use MODE1 & DAO or Session at Once with "Finalize Disc" #####ed, unless you plan to use Echelon's self-boot instructions, then I'd recommend the CDRECORD method.

Side note: I succeeded in burning WackyRacers as a non-boot disc, but the sound hiccups and repeats. When I tried to make it self-boot using Echelon's tutorial, it shows the Dreamcast logo and then the screen goes black and it goes back to the 4-icon ####ting screen. I think WackyRacers is FUBAR.

Thanks for the prompt reply.. booting sound etc aren't an issue ... basicly I only want the thing so I can change the dialup settings to those of my freecall ISP.

Frightful.

PS.
I appear to be getting somewhere but im not sure where it is. I've just used cdiconv on the image and now the finished product has files on it

however the DC still goes to the cdplayer mode.

and cdi2nero gives me an error message and I'm just not willing to make any more coasters tonight.

could someone let me know what settings i should be using in DJ3?
If anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated.

Thanks F.

I'm surprised the sa-brows one caused you any problems, if your using cheap CDR's try lowering the write speed.

Frightful, don't use CDRWIN (I don't even use FireBurner because it doesn't work for me either).

If you have .bin/.cue discs, extract the .bin using either BIN2BOOT, BIN2ISO or BIN2RAW. BIN2BOOT will give you a .CDI file that can be burned using DiscJuggler. BIN2ISO and I believe BIN2RAW will give you an .ISO file that should be burnable by some of the other programs. If you can't burn .ISO files with software you have, make the ISO and then use ISOBUSTER to extract the files and use Echelon's selfboot tutorial to make a bootable disc.
