DJ Problems...please help

Hiya i'm having big problems backing up CDs using DJ (and also Clone CD)

With DJ, the game reads fine (quake 3, dc), and then when i put the blank cd in, as soon as it starts to write the 2nd session on the cd, i get the following error and the cd stops burning:

Event: 17796

Description: (CDB: 2a000000000a00001000, Status: 040002, Sense: 052400) Illegal field in command description block

So any idea's anyone?

This has happened with numerous games, i've even tried it with some that I have copied before, but i get the same error....

I have tried using Clone CD also, the CD reads and writes ok, but when I try and play the game in the Dreamcast, it just reads it has an audio cd....

Also I tried burning the Utopia boot cd, and I get an error with that. When writing, the cache builds up to about 40% and then the cd slows down and i get an this error:

Event: 17804

Description: (CDB: 5b010200000000000000, Status: 040002, Sense: 052c00) Command sequence error or program area is or is not empty

-----------------------------

I'm using DJ 2.0 and i've also tried 3.0.
Got a Plextor 12/10/32A
And i've reformatted my drive, and i'm getting the same results...
Plus it doesn't explain why I was copying things fine before...

So anyone got any idea's?

Thanks in advance

It say's in the discjuggler help topic's that if you get that message it could be that you need to upgrade your CD writers firmware.

Well i have a plextor 12/10/32a and i have exactly the same problem when
i try to burn 80+ min cdi autoselfboot images.

It looks like that the new 12/10/32a have limitations and they are
not able to burn this kind
of multisession image properly.

Try to downgrade your firmware to
1.01 version, and
if you can not so you have one of
these new burners
that are not as good as the first ones.

My plextor only let me downgrade only to
1.05 firmware version, i have asked the
plextor support team why i can
not downgrade to
1.01, 1.02, 1.04 firmware versions, and they said that the new cd-burners have some hardware "modifications", and that these firmware versions
will not work properly in these new recorders.

For me is really clear that they have some deal with safedisk, so the new cd burners have
some modifications to not allow you to
copy safedisk copy protected softwares, but
it looks like that these modifications have
affected the way this burner can
burn cdi autoselfboot dreamcast games.

Three things

Just a quick thought

Try reinstalling Discjuggler and trying again, if that doesnt work, try cdi2nero and then try using nero. It handles the cache in the rom a lil different than DJ. If that doesnt work, try exchanging your burner... ::shrugs:: it might be bad.

Dontmatter what cdr burner do you have ?

I have tried to convert to nero using cdi2nero,
i have tried extarcting the two sessions with cdirip5a and then try to burn them with fireburner, cdrwin, cdrecord or
winoncd3.8 power edition and i always obtain the same result, when it tries to close the second session i obtain "illegal field
in command descriptor block".

The problem happens if the multissesion image is 80+ min, i have already
done about 46 coasters i am really desperated !!!

Please somebody can help me really guys ?

Has anyone found a workaround for this issue. I have noticed on several boards that this seems to be a common problem yet I have not seen a satisfactory resolution.

Just wondering

It's right across from RAW write, on my DJ it's not available to be chosen. I don't think my CD-RW supports it.(Philips PCRW404)

Point blank.....DJ (any version) is wack! I just use cdi2nero and convert the images to nero images, burn it at 6x and I havent made a coaster yet (knock on wood).

I've tried all the stuff you've tried, and I'm still having the same problem with a Sony160E. The weirdest part for me is that I haven't always had this problem.

Here's the History of what I've seen.

Burnt many many games with this drive. Then I ####t getting the same error as you. I try the usual stuff with every program under the sun, and I still couldn't get a working game - EVEN - with images I've successfully burned in the past. I try the CDR in another pc, but still have the error. I decide the CDR must be at fault, so I replace it with another sony160E.

Damnit...This drive has the same problems. Out of desperation, load w2k on another machine to stick the CDR in. I load w2k and DJ2 by themselves and guess what....still the same error.

At this point I'm at a loss. I know they exchanged my drive b/c I marked the old one (actually, I killed in completely with a 9v battery ran across the logic board). I would at least hope that old images burned, but no luck. Both drives have been able to burn other stuff, just not DC isos. 3 machines and 2 drives later, I'm still at a loss.

For boot cd 1.1 there is already nero format. For the boot cd 1.2, you can get a tool that convert that to nero format. You will find it in a readme.txt in the bootloader.zip file. Convert to nero. Use nero to burn, this time it will ask if you want to burn with disk at once or not, answer no. Then you got a working boot cd. Hope this solve your issue.
