Hi Folks...Mac53 here

I have some questions about my trying to completely decompress pc games so I can learn to make what necessary changes to play these games off my HHD without the CD Rom. First, let me tell you what I have in software and what I've already tried to do.

Daemon Tools, Virtual Drive 8, ISOpen, I5Comp, I6Comp, ZipScan (Eval. ver. at this time), Unshield,
DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and Nero 6.6...just to name a few.

I have tried to use Virtual Drive 8 and many of the games I have just won't recognize the VD's. With Daemon tools, I convert
the CD Rom image over to ISO using the ISOpen and either the game functions so poorly or I get errors out the kazoo. I discovered the I5 & I6comps and found them so complicated to use that I gave up on them. The only slight success I had
was using ZipScan but when I unpacked the original Installshield cabs to a folder, there are additional cabs within, that ZipScan can't do anything with. In other words, won't unpack.

This is what I believe, and I do stand to be corrected if wrong. I believe once a game gets completely unpacked, (all the Installshield files), I can access the ini or INF files and make the necessary changes to have the game run completely on my HHD. I sure can use some guidance here...If anyone knows I'm heading in the wrong direction with this, then please tell me what I'm doing wrong or not doing. I'm really interested in the I5 & I6comps, but I was impressed what Zipscan did, but don't understand why it didn't do the sub-cabs.

Oh...I forgot to add it to my signature...I'm running XP Home, and I found that dos commands are very difficult.
