It's the name of the cd/dvd. The crack only works if the cd or dvd you have is named: Sims2_1. I tried it with al the releases I downloaded and it works. If you have a dvd release, the name of the dvd is probably SIMS2_DVD, but it has to be Sims2_1, cause otherwise it wont work.

So if you have the dvd release, just extract al files to your pc. Burn them with nero (or an other burning tool), and name the cd Sims2_1.

(Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Good luck

P.S. I'm from The Netherlands, so if my English is a bit crappy, thats the problem :P
Thanks for the info WoBbe. You are right about the CD label, but it's not necessary with the DVD release. I thought of it at first, but that didn't help. In this case I've left the US DVD name intact (which is in Joliet mode, labeled as Sims2), and as long as I swap out that *01.TMP file with the International *01.TMP file it works.

I should point out though that this IS the case for the CD release. For those having problems getting the crack to work with a CD backup don't forget that you MUST label the first disc as Sims2_1 (small letters)(give that a try Sidney). It must be in Joliet mode (so it shows up in small), so you don't want to use ISO 9660 text for a Joliet lablel (for those that use Nero you'll know exactly what that means). If you use the same label for both (ISO 9660 and Joliet, which would show up as SIMS2_1) it will not work, and you will have an "enter correct disc" error.

Remember: Label must be case correct. In my case the US DVD has Sims2, while the International CD1 version had Sims2_1.

Nice of you post that WoBbe. I bet that just solved the problem with the guys doing US CD backups. I totally forgot to mention it.

Edit: This was posted in another forum, so I'm not gonna take credit for it. If you want to get rid of the Money logo that appears when you start the game then delete the 00000000.016 and 00000000.256 files inside the C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin folder. Thanks goes to a guy named Grisom for that one.
