PS2 problem

Ok, my PS2 was doing fine, playing all my backups with my Apple Pro for about 8 months now. Well, all of a sudden, The eject tray only opened halfway, so i turned it off and turned it back on, and it worked. Now sometimes when i turn my PS2 on, I get no light at all and the eject button does nothing, so I have to turn it off and back on again and it works...Now the big problem is, right when this started happening, my PS2 stopped reading my backups. My backups seem to only work now if i leave my PS2 alone for a while, but if i'm playing a game, and then switch games, it doesn't work. It plays my original games just fine. I cleaned the laser and that didn't help either...Any idea of what the problem could be?
