Copy CD-ROM-PS2-games

Hi,

please help me on this one:

I would like to know if I can make a working backups of my PS2-games which are not on
DVD-ROMs but on mere CD-ROMs. Is it possible? Which program is to be preferred? And do
I need anything to play them on a regular PS2 like a MOD-Chip or a boot-disc?

This question might have been asked already but please forgive me because I am in a hurry
