More DVD Conversions

Why arent there more cd to dvd conversions for pc games like the recent doom 3 crack. when im backing up my games i really dislike wasting more disks than i need to. This is especially the case with games like UT2004 and Farcry. I would really like to see more of this type of conversion.

Are people really that lazy when it comes to switching cds 2 or 3 times during the install/play period?

Anyways, with Fat Americans being reluctant to purchase DVD Roms for their PC's, games will continue to come out on CD Media. If they did use DVD Roms, then people would not need to do all that conversion crap.

We just see it as a waste of energy changing CDs. We think one step ahead of the world.

Farcry can be bought on DVD!

@ Asimov

Why didnt you just buy Farcry on DVD! It would have saved you the trouble of converting it!

Mostly you dont need conversation patches. Just copy all files into a folder and burn it to one dvd. Sometimes you have to change setup.ini or some other dat files but thats not hard at all

I would have if I had the chance. As it was, the dvd version was near to impossible to find where I live. In truth the core reason I'd like to see more dvd conversions is because I often attend lan gaming seasions and with a limited HDD I am more willing to uninstall games (eg. purely single player games i'm playing) for the space if the install is less manual.

At the risk of sounding like newb, how would you go about editing the setup.ini and what is it I'd be looking for. Any help would be much appreciated.

open these files with notepad

For Example in NFSU you have to edit some files that the installer thinks it has to be installed from cd1, dataformat in nfs is like this:

[cdnumber],[installtype (1=needed)]data\example.exe
[cdnumber],[installtype (1=needed)]data\example2.wav

This game was one of the harder setups to build on DVD. I had to add movie-files to the list and set installtype and cdnumber to one for all files

It's a kind of Reversing. But in most new games you have Installshield setups where you simply have to copy the files from the cds to ohne folder and then burn it on a dvd.

Try putting Kill Switch on a DVD

It uses WISE installer and not seen any info on hacking that type of install program.

Sure you can put images of both CD's on a DVD and mount them in DAEMON to install, but try copying the files to a DVD and make it install!

Really?

Look at www.cdsteam.com and done. A wise and solid .exe is very difficult to crack, but can be duplicated with its own program. Search and u will find how wise works with wise projects of some games.
Sorry if this info is not available in english, but i think installation mod isn't so older to be known. U will find most installation mods initial info in such page ( but in spanish)

Good luck!
