Computer Restarts frequently
Hi Friends,
I am having a problem with my computer being restarted very frequently. I am running windows 2000 in that.Everytime i start my computer for the first times it works fine for the first 30 minutes. Then later it gets resatrted within every 10 mins. I did not have a problem like this. But recently i have plunged in a Cd writer "but which is a new one". I have noticed that after i have installed the Cd writer this happens. Can anyone tell me what shall be the problem. Can it be because of the new Cd writer which i have installed or can it be any other problem.Any help would be appreciated. Thanxs in advance.. |

Sounds to me like your comp is turning off because it over heating, in your bios you have a safety setting telling the comp to turn off if it gets to a certain temp, so you dont frie it all.
When you plugged in the IDE cable to the writer, by any chance if it covering the CPU Fan or some other fans?

There are 3 most likely causes to this problem.
1.) Least likely- your computer is overheating and shutting down to protect itself. >if this is the case make sure you have the hardware monitor utility installed this will first give you a warning that the temp is getting dangerously high and hence you will know it's the cause. 2.) More likely - Your memory is knackered or intermittently suffering from errors. it does happen, and often causes the pc to crash. If you have more than one memory dimm in your pc try alternating them or removing one at a time to to eliminate the bad one. 3.) Most likely - you powersupply is not up to the task of running your pc now you have added an additional peice of kit (your cd/dvd rom or whatever it was) once the components in the power supply warm up; normally takes about 10 - 20 minutes, they begin to exceed the safe operating temp because of the excess load; power supply shuts down. Typically you can't turn the pc on immediately but need to wait a few mins before it will come on (though not always.) I have experienced all three of these issues and their symptoms in addition to one more I have mentioned, (but am about to) a faulty motherboard. Good luck |
