Just bought a busted Xbox for 50 bucks! :D

Came with a couple controllers, the usual stuff no games.

Anyway, after a little examination it turns out it's got a phillips drive and the laser isn't "lasering", i.e. no laser out of diode, I did the eyeball test. Where is this thing powered on the Phillips pcb? I want to make sure it's the laser and not the board before I buy a replacement laser.

Thanks!
Frito

I'm not completely sure, but usually there is an orange flat cable.

I think he means power source components such as the voltage regulator, driver chip. I’ve never seen the board for that drive but I’m sure they are all very easy to point out and test. Follow your tracks, the driver IC probably has a heat pad stuck on it and those 3 pin transistors supply regulated power.

I am going to assume you mean the potentiometer.

I shoulda been more specific. Actually Ihaveanosebleed hit it right on the head. I was hoping someone had a page with expected voltages etc... so I'll just trace 'em back and see where the power stops.
