Its not really the chips that are the problem... Its the solderless adapters and LPC Bus.
The reason it doesn't work the same way (solderless adapter) on the 1.6s as it does on the other versions is that microsoft changed the part of the motherboard that it is supposed to sit on. (the changed part of the board is called the LPC Bus).. To get chips working on the 1.6s you have to redirect other points on the motherboard back to the LPC Bus points by soldering wires inbetween the two (jumpers).. So i'll just shut up right now and say no.. and Leave it at that.. There isn't one out now and there may never be. The Xenium ICE has a beginner approach for soldering.. I'm not sure how beginner it is.. But on the underside of the motherboard some of the solder points are bigger than the top.. So an easier target to hit for some. You can checkout the ICE 1.6 install PDF file at OzXodus for the two diagrams. (beginner and advanced).. If all else fails maybe you could pay for the install if its within your means cashflow-wise. Or make a buddy whos handy with a soldering iron. I'm tired.. Last edited by Neipas02; 19-08-2004 at 10:52. |
