Question What is The Best CD-R For Games

I have been backing-up games CDs for a while. Recently, I had some problems with the CD-Rs. I used Melody, Immation, LG, Datalife, Euro-Max and other, yet have not found one which I could stay with.
The game "Need for Speed underground" gave a big headache . Every time I try to copy, one of the Cds does not work.
Any suggestions on what media type is good for copying games?

Thanks in advance

It all depends on your burner!

Some burners work well with one brand of media or dye type, some another brand/dye type. As I understand it, the f/w in the burner has media id's for various types of manufactured CD-R's/CD-RW's and DVD-R/+R's coded into it so the burner can identify the dye type of the disc you have inserted and pick the correct writing strategy for it. If you put in media the f/w hasn't any info on, then it may choose the wrong writing strategy or a default one and may produce a coaster or bad burn.

Check the media compatability list for your burner, if the manufacturer has one on their website, and try brands that use the same dye type. You could also try updating the firmware of your burner in case they have added more media codes.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please!

While this kind of thing is standard practice for DVD-R, this is the first time in years I've seen someone struggle with cd-r media compatibility. These days they should all be okay, so I'm suspecting something else has gone wrong. What kind of cdburner do you have ? How old is it ?

And when you say one cd does not work, do you mean you can't install/copy from it (read errors) or is the copy protection acting up ?

Most likely this is the rumor fallout that only certain burners with certain media with certain speeds with certain voodoo rituals will successfully copy certain Starforce games.

I don't think Starforce comes into this equation More like what Rincewind suggests, something is just a bit screwy with his system/burner!

I am using three media writters, liteon DVDRW, liteon CDRW-52x and a MSI CDRW-52X. The DVDRW and MSI CDRW are installed in the PC. The Liteon CDRW in the CD duplicator. All I am asking for is a good brand of CDR, from ur experincs.
