Xbox Live Rebooting The Console...?

Alright guys i'll try to explain this as well as I can..

-Xenium Ice is installed on a V1.6..
-Everything is setup and working fine
-Network connection is slightly above simplistic.

1. Running off a router (wired) to NIC #1
2. NIC #2 is running to the Xbox
3. ICS (internet connection sharing) is enabled on NIC #1
4. When I run through the connection trouble shooter on Xbox Live
everything gives a green light (all settings set to automatic)
5. Right when the xbox is about to connect to the live GUI there is hard
reset back to the Xbox Logo and then the MSDash. The console literally
resets itself.
6. XboxConnect works fine. (there is a crossover cable going to NIC #2)
7. Now i'm guessing its due to either the chip or the network setup
i.e.(Ip numbers and ICS)? I really don't think I was banned from Xbox
Live since I don't get any error messages.. and I never remember trying
to get onlinewith the chip enabled. I've never read about this
specific problem on the boards so i'm not sure what it is..
8. I can still FTP to the xbox..
9. I've tried a straight connection from the xbox back to the router (no go).

Any suggestions.. or maybe you've heard of this?

Not that I know of.. I had to use a backup of my E drive though.. Shuffling files around or something I lost my game saves.. they were recovered.. When I went back though my Live profiles were gone.. I recovered them (manually) and everything seems to be alright.. I dunno.. Something had to have gotten screwed with the files..

I think I'm just going to buy a used console as cheap as I can. Leave it unmod'd for xbox live.. The ony reason it matters is i'm already stuck paying for the subscription.. 2.. Halo2.. So yea when it gets toward that time i'm just gonna pick up another and hope my live account takes on it.

When you say you recovered them manually, you meant by using the "account recovery" feature in the dashboard?

Does your router have a built in firewall?

Yes I do believe so.. Maybe I should add the mac address of the box to the list of accepted ones eh.. (is an idiot).. I'll give that a shot.. but I would think it would've given me an error message instead of rebooting like that..

And yea quall.. Had to use the account recovery on the dash.

Apparently I wasn't as forgetful as i'd thought.. I'd already worked the xbox mac address and IP into the router firewall.. unless i'm doing something wrong.. not much experience in dealing with routers.. anyway I think i'm gonna give up.. I think its more of an xbox problem rather than networking.

Well, if you connect your xbox directly into the modem and try, then it will rule out all networking problems if it fails still.

Alright.. Finally got around it..
First off I tried the direct connection to the modem.. same stuff..

Finally I got frustrated tore open the box took out the hard drive and chucked it across the room.. and then after imagining myself doing that I put in the old drive and it booted to live fine.. so the problem was obviously with files on the drive..

I started piecing back the new drive from scratch (formatting through FTP) and kept track of which files I was adding all the while checking live to make sure it'd boot.. I narrowed it down to the E: partition.. Then TData and then most likely it would have to be the 55530019 folder followed by the u$ folder which contains plenty of live settings and other little tidbits that could cause conflicts when recovering a live account..

So thats that.. I'm just going to let the file sit out of the box for now.. I'm sure if they're necessary xbox live will just update the console and add working files...

Thanks for your suggestions guys.. I think the only real excitement is troubleshooting along with the only real headache.
