Unhappy DVD writer Freezing computer

I have a Toshiba (DVD-R) SD-R6012 and I am using the CloneDVD software. Whenever I try to write a DVD from a file, the computer will freeze after a few minutes of writing. Does anyone know what the problem is or how I can fix this? Thank you.

First I would try shutting down all programs running in the background. It's possible that there might be something running in the background that has conflicts with your burning software or your hardware drivers.
The best way to do this would be to go to your system configuration utility (Assuming you use Win XP), under the startup tab click disable all. Then go to the Service tab and check hide all Microsoft programs, then click disable all. Finally press OK to confirm and reboot your system. Try to burn a DVD to see if it worked.

If that doesn't work I have more idea's for you to try.
