as baby said, the only true deterent is to require a unique cd key for online games.

for playing offline,, well,, they could find a way to make super unique keys like microsoft does, or use 1024bit encryption as ms does with some of their files,

copy protection isnt a waste of their time, if they gave up on it, they wouldnt have star force, which as we are all seeing is taking alot of time to break.

but as with everything else, it will happen.

i hate using a cd as much as anyone else, but get over it.
90% of the people crying about a cd crack are the tards who downloaded the game and 1) are too stupid to look in the bin file for he crack, or 2) are too stupid to read the NFO on how to burn it. or 3) are using some crappy burning tool or dont know how to set up their tools.

even the latest safedisk is 100% 1:1 copyable. if you set up alchohol 120% correctly.

use the cd quit cryin.

unless you have something like Painkiller which is an absolute copy protection nightmare. refusing to isntall or play even WITH the cd in the drive. for some people.

well no need to worry soon in a few weeks a new patch will be released from the company which will fix all bugs especially those nasty bug of quests and then we will wait for the crack to xome out for now i guess we put game away..

Well I just got this game out of a bargain bin and after reading this thread, i think i know why it was there. The autopatcher says 1.2 is up2date. Website (game is German - that explains a few things) says 1.66. GCW has 1.2 b4 1.5 etc. I'd rather take it back, but I can't (cos of you chaps j/k). I'll just not bother.

well hopefully that now the official update for the game 1.7 final update is out the crack will come very very soon

Seriously I don't care for any more patches they make for this game, you're gonna play 1.7 and notice it still is full of balance problems/bugs, I think I'll just wait for the expansion to look at this game again, cause maybe they'll make the expansion work better...

They should seriously change the infinite power of items, it's soooooooooo easy as it is, just like playing d2 with hacked stuff.

If anybody is thinking on buying this game, then DON'T, it looks nice but is NOT any nice to play... Such stupid bugs as finding items saying class specific for YOUR class and at the same time saying wrong character class made me despise it, and playing with the CD, seriously, it takes SOOOO much longer to start the game that you lose interest in playing by the time it starts cause it gives you time to remember of all the annoying things in it...

If they would release the source code for this game and let people mod it freely a GEM would come out... So many simple things that can be done and make it terribly better...

the game doesn't suck (unless you replay it for like 6 times,,,)
the balancing doesn't post any difficulties to me either as i a lousy gamer anyway.

but the bugs and "black" quests really pisses me off, the occasioanal dissappearance of the item pictures, and some of the other stupid bugs

i played it once and couldn't play again already, while some other games I can play many times, diablo 2 i played so much i lost the count...

well u can always make the game harder by trying to outrun mages at lvl 10 and below

or archers .. lol

seem i took on 3 wolves and never seem to find anyway of surving them at lvl 1 ...........

well i heard that a crack for version 1.7 is out hereon emule i guess it will show up really soon
from same makesrs as the 1.66 russian..

the 1.66 russian is a 1.5 with version number changed, it does not have any of the 1.66 fixes.

Besides the 120MB for Upgraders the ones buying the new version are welcomed with an update released before product release, adding another 10 MB, introducing them to the well-known rhythm of "1 version every two weeks or faster".

This is no game, it's an experiment.

Can somebody tell me if I need to do anything special to update my game? I got the no-CD files for version 1.66 here off of Gamecopyworld. Do I have to wipe the installation clean to update to 1.7? Or can I just run it? Usually, if I have a no-CD crack, I have to put back the original file to patch the game.

Should I then download the "plus" patch?
