Just to add my 2 cents worth - yep they are good chips!
Which one is being offered?? The Apple Pro works great in V1-V8 stations Apple 2 (old yes but very reliable) works just as well as long as you stay away from V7 stations with V7 protected games. Yet to test the new Apple3 V1-V10 compatible.

Are V1's worth modding with Apple modchip?

the question is more whether the V1's are worth modding at all!?
But if the laser is ok then there is no reason why not. They are just fiddly - so I would recommend the DUO instead for anything under a V4.

its an apple pro chip, but would it work on anti-mod games, sry i know not a damn thing about games like that, but yeah..... i have a fliptop and swap magic disks right now, would it play games directly that needed extra swapping on the swapmagic, (splinter cell, 007 everything or nothing, ect)?

plays splinter cell fine using the eject button to boot the station insert game eject to close method.
There are no PS2 games that it wont work with as far as I know - with the exception of online use - no chip can do that. Some PS1 copy protected anti-mod games may not work without patches - again this is true for all chips.
