this just in....

i mention on another post that i had trouble loading a backup w/ the HDD. well, so far i can play backups. but the problem is that the console can't recognize the HDD. for example, i wanted to save a new user on tiger woods 2k4, well, it still reads just the memory card slots. am i not seeing the HDD option 'cause the messiah 2 pro chip is not disabled? but i just want to prove to some of y'all that u can play your backups w/ the HDD installed. has anyone else try this and succeeded?

fyi my ps2 ver is ver4 .

As far as I know you won't be able to save games to the HDD. None of my games on my unmodded box can save data to the hdd. Only Playonline games have access to the HDD.

Ya, the feature to save games on the HDD is missing. You can only transfer save over to store them, if you wanna play a game again, you have to re-transfer it back to your momory card.

SOny said that the HDD is not a memory card replacement.

Crappy deal if you ask me

It's for games that are huge and need patching or the ability to update with levels and crap. Newer games will probably have support to save games to the hard drive.

At this exact moment the only games that use the hard drive are Playonline Games because they need to be installed to the Hard drive and take about 26 gigs. GTA4 is rumored to have HDD support because you can download tracks and race online. But it's not due out till Christmas.
