99 minute CDRs
Anyone here use 99 minute CDRs? I ask because I tried putting King of Fighters 2000, 2001, & 2002 on 1 disc with DP3 but what ever game ends up last (with or without a sort file) will boot but then reset after getting to the ADX logo screen.
At first I thought I messed up somewhere with KOF 2002 since it was the last game on the CD and resets but then I sorted the games so that KOF 2001 would be last and now KOF 2002 woks but 2001 does not. I was thinking maybe the DC can't read any info on a CDR past 90 minutes (the games take up about 98 minutes). Anyone use 99 minute CDRS for there compilations? Do they all work? |

this may be a guess, but when DC boots a cd-r, the drive goes into cd mode. i think it can only read up to 700MB/80 min. cd-r's. it could read 99 min cd-r's, but not past the 700MB mark, i guess. i may be wrong about that.

Yeah I was thinking maybe there is a limit somewhere, but where exactly I don't know. The CD I made is 870MB and it boots fine. The DC has no problem reading it the disc, but once you launch the last game on the disc, the DC goes nuts (it attempts to kick you back to DP3, hangs at the now loading screen, then starts scrolling diagnolly! And you CAN'T soft reset, you must power off the DC).
I have heard of some people putting games like Grandia 2 to fit perfectly on 1 90 minute disc (that particular game does not fit on a 80 minute disc). So maybe 90 minutes is the limit? |

I just put the disc in my Dreamcast again and it says it's 79 minutes and 59 seconds (79:59) but the disc is actually 98 minutes. So is the DC saying it can read beyond 80 minutes?
If that's really the case then this sucks because I could have used the extra space. Anyone know for sure? |

I got mines from ebay. Be sure to check (or try to find some info) if your burner can read/write them because my older burner couldn't do either.

I have a Yamaha CRW-F1 CD Writer. I use either CDRWIN or Discjuggler when I burn my CDs.
For example when I use CDRWIN usually to make the first session with the dummy audio track (Go to "Record Disc" then click "open new session" then load the track you wish to burn and start recording). Have you tried CDRWIN? Can you select the "open new session" option? See you might have 1 of 2 problem or both. 1) Your CD writer is NOT compatible with the software to burn a 99 minute disc. or 2) Your CD writer IS compatible with the sofware but NOT with the media you are using (Or any 90/99 minute media) BTW, if you plan to use the discs on your Dreamcast don't bother. The writer I have now is the best when it comes to writing any type of CDR. I get no errors with it. I can make multi session CDRs with no problem. The first session burns fine and so does the second. The Dreamcast can read the 99 minute discs I made but it looks like it can read any info on the disc beyond the 80 minute point. I put KOF 2000, 2001, and 2002 on one 99 minute disc. What ever games are before the 80 point work fine. Anything past that, the Dreamcast will attempt to load it but then hang. I was hoping I made a mistake somewhere so that I could fix it and get the extra space but t doesn't seem that I made a mistake. But if you find a way let us know.
