it seems that some have the xcaliber chips and some have the focus chips. well at least that's what I read.....

This was a rumor for the past week or two. But since no one else has any images to prove that these new Xcaliber chips are even real it sounds like it was just another rumor.

I'm gonna be very pissed of any of mine come with the Xcaliber encoder.

dude I'm hoping the xcailber chips are false as false can be. Also in the rumor mill I heard there is the possiblibilty that MS might bring over the crystal version xbox here due to the fact that everybody on the sates has been clammering for them

Yay Game have just emailed me to say "Your order is currently being picked and packed" so fingers crossed my crystal xbox should arrive tommorow.

and if you cannot get your hands on a crystal xbox, or afford one, here is a cheap alternative, although, it isn't worth quite as much and isn't quite the same:

They are JP though and are v1.6 only with Xcalibur encoder.

I got mine for £112 factory sealed from a friend, its PAL, v1.4 with Focus encoder because I didn't want the JP version or a v1.6.

He bought about 20 and had two left so I thought I'd get it since they are highly sought after.

Having the Asian version isn't the same since its (bleh) v1.6 and supposedly still uses the Samsung drive instead of the superior Philips (CD-R reading) DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD+R9 reading drive which Sammy's have trouble playing back even if you booktype, especially DVD+R9.
