Why 2x DVD-R ???

I often see that the 4x DVDs are cheaper than the 2x DVDs in the same brand! Why is this? My burner can do 8x and i don't want to burn in 2x...

It's basic economics. 4X will be cheaper because they sell a hell of a lot more 4X than 2X now days so they making their money back no problems.

2X dvd-r will only be bought by people with 2X burners so they are getting bent over and nailed by the dvd manufactuered.

Regards

Yes, they can, but sometimes it requires a FW upgrade in order NOT to fry their burner. Pioneer had that kind of issues.

Probably 2x are more expensive, because they are obsolete (no brand today ships 2x discs) and at the time of their production the cost was higher than today. I can remember when TDK dvd-r 2x was costing 13€ on a local shop.
