I have an applex v in my xbox and the darn thing won't read any disk I put in Back-up or orig. Even with the xbox mod disabled. Would using a laser disk cleaner hurt the lens? I just changed my hdd to an 80g I had lying around. Everything went great, hdd locked and everything starts and acts normal. I stored 3 games on the hdd last night I had on the computer. Now I have the X2 4981.06 flashed. So I thought I would reflash the chip. No help. I even tried to use the back-up hd copy I had,no fix....WTF is the prob. Did I miss something!

If it won't play originals with the chip off, then your dvd-rom may have died. Thats the only problem I can think of, or maybe one of the cables aren't plugged in fully.

Man, those thompson dvd drives suck big D@#$. I have a 1.5 version made 10/2003.Now by looking at the formula of what Xbox's have phillips and which have samsung( might not be to accurate) but mine should have probably had a phillips or a samsung. But after I got it modded it started to act up, like make a grinding noise and always seems to give me dirty disk error.I bet that prick that modded mine switched the samsung( because I was still new and didn't know anythingabout this stuff) for the thompson(made 10-2001). Now I had to do some sneaky stuff to fix it. Thanks for the reply Quall999. I should have known that was what it was......
