CloneCD question

I just burnt a CloneCD image of Max Payne. The game works great, but when I uninstall CloneCD and run the game after rebooting, then it asks for the original CD again.

Why is it so?

Why do I have to have CloneCD installed in order to run things I burn with it?

Is there a way to burn with CloneCD so that Max Payne, and other games, would work even when CloneCD isn't installed, in sake of portability.

Many thanks!

Together with CloneCD you have installed CloneCDTray.
With this Tool you are able to "Hide CD-R Media".

Play the game with CD in a normal CD-ROM-Drive, when you have uninstalled CloneCd, because normal CD-ROM-Drives aren't able to identify CD-R Media.

Thanks GLH! I've just stumbled upon this ATIP thing myself. So basically the burnt copy will play ok on every CD-ROM-Drive just not on a CD-R.

Is there another program, except CloneCDTray, that can be used to hide CDR Media?

Also, does this all mean that CloneCD doesn't really make a 1 to 1 copy? Isn't there a burning program that can bypass this CDR Media check?

I havent heard of any program that can burn a CD-R so as to become undetectable as a CD-R. Would be a nice feature. I would guess it comes down to how each manufacturer of their burner detects that a CDR is in its drive. For now, most good burning software have a 'hide media' feature.

Alcohol 120% has a "Hide CD-R Media" within.
