I agree with spedmetal, the clip is the problem. I would take it out and install the chip the correct way before i would butcher up the console.

Yeah, looking at it again I think I will pull the clips out. I've got wire to it it all direct anyway, so I'll try that this weekend. I'll post back with the outcome...
