Yet another disappointing DVD-R Media Brand.
This sucks! I can’t believe how hard is is to get some good media at a decent price here in Canada. After being completely screwed out of $70 by someone in California. Now I spent another wad on some junk
From Ontario. These guys are selling a Phillips (supposedly) brand with claims that they are “better than Ritek’s” I ran DVD info Pro on these and there was no data at all for manufacturer? These DVD-R’s are worse than Princo’s, needing adjustments to load on my V4 and having the same skipping and read errors in the last ¼ of the DVD Data. So far my list of crappy DVD-R media for my PS2 are these things, Maxell, and Princo’s. although the Maxell I tried was NOT a full 4.5 Gig DVD so I don't know about the last Gig on those. The only good working brand I’ve burned so far are Verbatims, and they work PERFECT right to the end, They work great no matter where I even have my white cog adjusted, even my originals seem to be more picky than Verbatim!! |

Why not just stick with the one that works all the time?

Verbatims cost 4 times as much!!! I guess Taiyo Yuden DVD-R’s are supposed to be basically the same as Verbatim from what I’ve been told so I guess I’ll try them next but they are still 3X as expensive as these rotten DVD-R’s. I just can’t get over the quallity difference on these DVD-R’s, it’s freaking crazy!!!

I was wondering if a spot should be made where everyone names which media has worked well for them, and which media didn't. I've used Maxells and Memorex discs with no problems, while having nothing but coasters with TDK and Fuji brands. I did discover the beauty of Comp USA brand discs which have all worked perfectly and are dirt cheap. CHEAPER than buying the Riteks off of the web.

Ordering from US to Canada is a bloody nightmare, there’s the greedy crooked government taking their duties and charging handling fees, exchange always seems to cost more than it should. And just wait and see how freaking outrageous brokerage fees are after some fool sends you something by courier when you asked for US POSTAL SERVICE!!! UPS sucks donkey c**ks!!! Apparently I still own these dirty bastards money, after paying more for shipping than the actual item inside the package!!! I am 3 hours away from the city and last time I was there I didn’t see anything decent for DVD-R media, even at the stupid warehouse place my friend has a membership with. Isn’t Sam’s a music store? If a music store sells blank media I would imagine it’s at an absolute premium price, probably worse than Radio Shack where they sell Verbatim DVD-R’s for $5.99 a piece!
If so many internet dealers weren’t out to steal your money or rip you off with completely false claims, I’d have some good media by now. Not all of us are lucky enough to live in the all mighty US with a stronger economy and 10 times the buying power of Canada. Last edited by ihaveanosebleed; 14-02-2004 at 04:40. |

Sams is a member's only warehouse shopping store. Basically Walmart but for members only.

I agree with most of the people on this thead. if you find a media that works you might as well stick with it. on another note I seem to have no problems with ritek dvd's and as you said Verbatem is one of the top ones. you could get them somewhat cheap at meritline.com.
