Does the apple X V come pre-flashed? And if so with what? What size is its bios?

I think it does, bios is unknown, but you can re-flash the chip.

Well a terrible thing has happened. I installed the applex V last night. The install went well. Yes it does come pre-flashed with there bios. I also at this point installed that 160G HD I bought the other day. I boot it up holding power to boot the mod bios and I got the orange logo letting me know it was now working off of the mod bios. I then popped in slayers and proceeded to format the hard drive with the 'Rebuild new large HDD' tool and it created an F: and a G:. I then took out slayers and rebooted expecting to see the evox dash. But didn’t…. just the MS dash. So then I read some more about this and slayers installs evox to the F: the way I formatted the new HD and to boot the evox dash from there you need to have a bios that would do this. So I figured that the bios that came with the applex V must not have this kind of bios. So I decided to flash it using slayers and I flashed it with the X2 4977 256K bios for 137+ HDD that comes with slayers. All went fine with the flash until I went to reboot it. It did the dreaded reboot then error message. So I guess I did in my applex V! Can I get a programmer to re-flash it? If some one has a programmer would they be willing to do it for me? I should have just got the X2.3 Pro like I wanted and I wouldn’t be having this problem right now because I would be able to flash it my self.

Well I backed out the install. And put the old HDD back in. Everything is working like normal now. I'm just going to get the X2.3 Pro, like I ORINALLY WANTED!! $20 down the toilet. That will teach me.

Well, watch out what bios you flash. Im guessing the G drive wasn't supported in the version you flashed. I only recommend using the "x2 4981" bios.
-4981_06 if you want the extra memory on your HDD to go to the F drive (eliminating the G drive) -4981_67 if you want 137gb on F, and the rest on G. (6 stands for partition6, which is F, 7 stands for partition 7, which is G. 06, 67, get it?) btw, you can probably load up evox from a cd-rw or dvd, i would suggest that before buying a new chip, unless you really want to.

But I cant even get the mod to turn on now. So how would I be able to boot evox off of a CD-RW? Thanks for your help.

UPDATE
Update
I had www.the-console-corner.com express me an X2.3b pro Friday and it got here Saturday at 2:00PM. Installed it in 15min......no joke!! (Xbox's are a dream to mod compared to PS2's) Any way everything is working great. The new hard drive and all. This time I paid a little more attention to the flash procedure.... DUH. I made a really simple mistake that put my appleX V out of commission. So what I'm saying I guess is the AppleX V is still a good chip I just made a mistake. Can’t wait to try one again.

Thats what I did! Thats why it wouldnt work because I flashed the wrong one! Wouldnt work with my version. Might work with some one elses. Thats the only bad thing with the appleX chips. You only get one shot at a flash and if you mess up, your screwed. But oh well.

The Duo X is pretty much the same concept as the Apple X. In fact almost exactly the same. So if you’re not careful you could run into the same problem I did this the Apple X.
