How to slow down my DVD burner to 1x on RecordNow Max
Hi I have a Sony DRU-510A burner with firmware 1.0F. I just bought some Ritek DVD-R 4x speed and I am using REcordNow Max 4.5 to burn some .iso images. The thing I am noticing is that even if I set the burn speed to min, it still burns the image at 2x. (It took approx 20 mins for a 4 gig image). I would like to know if anyone knows how to change the burn speed to 1X. I have downloaded Sony's Drive Speed Selector and I am skeptical about using it to burn DVDs since it runs in the background. Any info is appreciated.

Ok I have the 1x, 2x etc setting and even if I choose to burn at 1x the program still burns at 2x. This is using Ritek G04 DVD-R on a Sony DRX-510A 1.0F firmware burner. I even tried Sonic's RecordNow DX 6.0 and still when I choose the setting at 1x the disc seems to burn at 2x (i.e. 24 mins for a full 4 gig iso). This is just irritating that a program even though you specify what to do, it has a mind of it's own
. Thanks to all the people who reply.

Why use 4x media to burn at 1x? Waste of money there. Plus it is known that you can actually get a better burn by burning at 2x rather than 1x.

Thanks Big Hap I didn't know that burning at 2x was the best. I thought burning at the lowest speed was the best cause this was true when I burn stuff on my olde PS1.... now that this is cleared up I guess I am burning stuff at the most optimal for my PS2

I agree with Biggie...why bother burning slow...i use 4x traxdata and never had a prob.
Even though some of the discs i have used have said they were 2x and 4x and they still only burn at 1x...but that could be due to the manufacturer not being 'regognized' or 'supported' buy the writer and a firmware update may be the answer. But the reason for you apparent problem is that the program analizes the disc speed and due to a glitch in the software it will burn at the optimum speed.... I got in touch with record max and they told me that they were aware of this and the 'problem' will be solved when they release a updated version of the software. |
