pc prob

hi a little off the topic but i need help
i just built a pentiam 4 3gig pc
it has a gigabyte ga8lk1100 mainboard
i pluged my hdd into it and was working fine till i done a windows update sp1 went fine when i done the driver update and rebooted it wouldnt load windows anymore so i formated now it will go between 3% and 17% of windows install and locks up ive tried 3 different versions of windows same prob can some 1 please help

I've had incomplete installs and such due to a faulty memory stick. If you have more than one memory stick installed, try pulling out one and check the system, then reinsert it and pull out another one and check. Just a thought.

Canterwood chipsets are very ram sensitive because of high memory speed, you can test your ram compatibility with running "Memtest86".
this is stand alone test that will create bootable floppy and you should boot PC with this floppy, run it for a while and see if you get any errors or not.
