Put it in ps1 mode. Then use your original Socom 2 disc.

I think its different than the old way that most users with v7 and below chips have. I think you hold eject for a few seconds then release.
Oh and btw please leave out the cusswords. There is is a screener for a reason. Like there could be women and children present. Well at least children. Tyler!

Ok, I turned on my ps2 it went to the menu screen with browser and configuration...
I held down the reset button, it went into sleep mode(reset button turned red), I ejected the tray put in socom, and when it gets to the DNAS screen, it gives me a 402 error. |

Hmmm, make sure you can play ps1 backups using this method.
But you really should be able to boot that way. Unless the magic V has some other way to do it. Give it time Im sure some other member with a M-V has a solution. Tyler!

For turn OFF/SLEEP, power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the logo/sounds comes on; then release RESET and the MagicV will be OFF/SLEEP.

If its in a V9 then I presume its a magic V 50k. I've got one and to put it into stealth mode put the PS2 into standby mode. Then turn on the PS2 with the eject button and keep hold of it for 5 seconds. Let go and the chip should be off. For PS1 mode do the same but only hold it for 3 seconds. They changed it from the reset button to the eject button on the V9's because if you hold reset for 5 seconds on a v9 it goes into standby. I hope this helps.

On the V9's you use eject not reset. Holding the reset button for that long on a V9 puts the console into standby. The instructions are here on the install guide at china magic http://www.china-magic.com/magic5/di...GIC_V5000X.jpg . I was wrong in my previous post about the number of seconds to hold for each mode.
