Hey guys, 2 questions please...

1) Im curious, I ordered the DMS3 v2 mod chip for my PS2, but Im not installing it myself. After it is installed, is there a way(Without opening my system) to know if its actually the DMS3 installed? Like is there a loading screen or something?

2) I have a V1 PS2, I think becasue I got it on launch date, the model number is 30001, I read a couple of posts regarding V1 PS2s that dont read DVD-R's.

I did a test copy and made a backup of one of my DVD movies on a Memorex DVD-R, and it worked flawlessly in my PS2. Is that a good sign?

Thanks guys,

I'm not sure but i dont think that v1's like dvd-r media for games.
The lasers are crap in them apparently.
The DMS chip should do certain things. Such as how to select PSX mode etc.
Check the site www.dms3.com for the information. Should be able to tell you ifs its a dms3 or not. I believe no other chips use the same boot thingy. Like holding down X for a certain mode.

I'm pretty sure thats it.
Please correct me if i am wrong

SO, even though the PS2 will read DVD-R movies, its not gonna read the DVD-R games?

----------------------------------------------------
ANyone know what version PS@, is in the combo pack that comes with Network adapter and ATV Offroad Fury 2?
----------------------------------------------------

I really dont wanna have to go buy a different PS2, but its seems as though everyone says it wont work. Is it better that I sell my sony on ebay or something and buy a new one? Thing is I need one thats under V9, cause I bought a DMS3 v2.

If your ps2 can read dvdr movies then the possiblities of it reading ps2 dvdr games is greater. Its not 100% proof that it will work but its a very good test that it might. You may wanna use different media like Ritek to burn ps2 games on.

The ps2 that comes in a combo pack like the one you stated is usually a v7. Look for the SCPH # if its 39000X (x meaning any number from 1-9) then its a v7. If the SCPH # is 5000X then its more than likely either a v9 or v10.

Mr.BadGuy, would you still however recommend, selling my V1, and getting the V7 as apposed to trial and big error - if it doesnt work?

I will always recommend selling a v1 ps2 for a newer version ps2.
