playing games off HDD

I'm in the process of reading through tutorials on how to be able to play games off my HDD. I would like to know if i have enough free space on my e drive (original xbox hdd).
It says in boxplorer that i have around 5gb free space in e
Then Evox says i have around 4.8gb free in e

Which one is more accurate?
And just to verify, does 5.xxx.xxx.xxx free space mean 5gb+?
i used x for the digits because i couldnt remember what they are.

as a general rule you should get 1 good game on the original hd as its only about 8 - 10 gig in size.
if you seriousley want to play from the hd get a bigger one.

all you have to do is create a folder called games in the e folder of the xbox and ftp the game ( in it's own folder) to this location. then reboot the xbox and go to games it should appear if it does not then you need to do some minor tweeking to the .ini file

Yup i really only want space for at least one game, so i can also backup my games. Even though i would be doing so, one game at a time.
I read about the risk of crashing the xbox due to no free space, off one of Quall's tutorials (which are all awesome btw). And im worried that this could possibly happen. But if its just one game loaded at a time, it shouldnt be a problem?

if you use boxplorer, it will stop if yo urun out of space, and give you an error telling you that it could be the problem. If that happens, then just delete the new game folder to clear it all up.

And placing how many games on the HDD depends on the size of each game. If it is 6gb, then yo uwon't even be able to place 1. Just look at the size on disk before you copy.

Im not too sure what you mean. You cannot copy a game to the HDD with just evox.

i thought all u needed was evox dashboard, or xcommander to see the option that will allow u to copy games to your hard drive when u boot up the xbox,
what i currently have right now is jus the matrix mod with evox25 flashed to it,
it there a better flash than the one i am using,
and where would i be able to optiain on iso ready to burn version of evox
, i have a file that is called evox3935iso, or something like that, but don't know what to do with it, i've tried to burn it onto a dvd+rw and cdrw , but won't work, the games that i was able to get from somewhere else are burnt' on dvdr+media,
sorry if i've confussed you,
i know u are trying to help and i appreciate it

I would get the latest version of Evox dashboard from #xbins and then make that your dashboard. Once you have that make a folder in your E folder called Apps. then put the program DVD2Xbox (also from #xbins) in that folder. Now reboot your xbox. In your Evox dashboard you will see "Launch Menu". Go there then you will now see "Apps". Go there. Finally you will see DVD2Xbox. Click that and read the instruction on your screen.

You will now be able to save your games directly to your xbox.
