Have you got any ps2 backups to work on your ps2?

May also be a media issue but thats rarely the case.

thats the point-i do not have any backups to work. it is my first try. i thought it might be my fault because of wrong settings. but when i try to start the DMS Explorer software (i burned the explorer exactly in the way it is recommended by DMS) the same message appears. i got a v5 ps2 so the laser should not be the problem....perhaps i have to try cd-r s with gold dye?

Uhh... or perhaps the chip isn't working?

Or you don't know how to get it to boot CD's (instead of DVD's)?

The chip is working because it is possible to boot dvds, ps1 originals and backups and ps2 originals.
The chip has five boot modes and when i want to boot the DMS Exporer i just have to hold the x-button as it is described on the website of DMS. Or do you know any other method to boot CDs instead of DVDs?

hi,

i took the ps2 back to the one who built in the chip for me. Now he wants to tell me that a ps2 with DMS3 Modchip is not able to boot cd-rs. Additionally he told me that there are no ps2 games on cd, only dvd format. He isn't right, is he?

Sounds really strange and YES there is CD based PS2 games.
So he is way wrong on that point.
If the DMS3 can handle CD based PS2 I don't know.
Can't get any good info from their site either...

well, the ps2 can handle cd-r s because it is recommended to burn the DMS Explorer Software to a cd. I was sure about this until the guy phoned me......

Did this guy even check his wiring before telling you a flat out lie? I'm not sure but
there could be a wire that only controls CD-R booting that is not soldered/wired properly.

So even the explorer cd won't boot?
does any disc at all boot?

would be an idea to check the X wire.
that's the one that control the scex signal.

I'm on quite thin ice here... not so experianced what every signal is for....
But it still sounds like a wire / faulty chip to me.

it is possible to boot ps1 originals/backups,dvds and (when i trust the guy who built in the chip) ps2 originals/backups. But it is not possible to boot cd-r! Does anyone know wether it could depend on a wire that is not soldered correctly? The guy who built in the chip meant that if one wire is not soldered correctly the whole chip would not work.Is he right with that?
thanks for all the answers given......
