Call of Duty not working.
I just bought call of duty installed the game and went to run it and it kept asking me to insert the correct cd even though i had it in there i tried cd 1 and cd 2 then put both in seprate drives at the same time. Anyhow i finally downloaded the no cd patch by deviance hoping that would work and now it doesn't ask me to insert the cd just says can't find default.cfg, anyone know how to fix this?
P.S. i have replaced the exe with the one off the cd though so now it just asks for the cd again.

what the hell do you mean you don't believe me? First off i bought it at circuit city, second of all there are a number of other places i could have gotten it from, how does telling you where i bought it from matter? Tell me that, no nevermind don't if i don't have to explain myself then you don't either, anyhow can you just answer the question or don't

ya ive done that, act said that they have been getting quite a few reports of files missing like this. Pretty sad when they release a game that only some of the cd's work on. Also did a search on this board and seems that a lot of other people have a similar problem but not the same file. Mines Default.cfg theirs is config.cvf o believe

well see that there is part of the problem, the game would run fine with the cd workin probably, even if i put in the crack it has a different problem now wouldn't that classify as a problem with the crack?

The game wont work fine if you run with your original CD.
You said a cfg file was missing, config file. The crack isn't a problem, I test the crack and it works. and it wont gettng bether with original cd to find cfg file. You seams to have problem to read from the original CD. Becuase it ask for the CD when you hit the original .exe file. So it might have problem with your installation. So reinstall the game or contact the tech support for futher help. I answer nice if you wonder what mood I am in to.

lol, nah im just getting frustrated this is the 3rd game in a row i have bought that didn't work from this store. I know its not my computer as everything is brand new, and any games i buy anywhere else seem to work and i know its not the store just my luck

I have exactly the same problem with call of duty. I receive also the messege "can't find default.cfg". I had this problem with other games before. In that cases it often helped when i installed a patch and cracked it again with the crack for the new version. I could't find a patch for call of duty yet. There is only some kind of patch which includes drivers.
So what can i do. Any ideas?

It may not be related but make sure to install the latest DirectX (9 or better) & make sure that you are using the latest video drivers. Drivers that are bundled with your video card are in most cases outdated and usually the latest games do not even work...
It is just bad checking on the game developer part, they should check if their games work on older configurations and if it does not that it gives hints how to solve possible problems... that would be a perfect world... Sorry this time, ash2dust2.
He only pointed out that he replaced the crack with the original exe again, as the crack was not working. The only thing I can think of is (besides checking all drivers) to contact technical support.
