How to Install DVD Writer

I've got two questions here.

I currently have a Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-1205 and a LG 40X/12X/40X CD-Writer on my computer.

#1 Right now I have just bought a Plextor PX-708A DVD-Writer and I don't know whether or not I should have it replace my Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-1205 or keep the thing in.

#2 How would I go about installing this hardware for optimum performance and if I follow the recommendations that people give, how would I go about installing it the way it was recommended?

Thanks.

On another note. Should I be worried that Plextor PX-708A is made in China? My friend seems to think so and at this moment I haven't been able to make an opinion of my own on my DVD burner's reliablility due to its manufacturing origin.
