DVD-R Help?

I am thinking of buying a DVD Writer next month and want to know if anyone has had a go at copying the games yet.
Do games like GT3 etc. Have copy protection and therefore need patching?

Cheers
Sim

Hi Simonbradley, i got a pioneer DVR-A03 from best buy for $799.00, It comes with prassi primo dvd 2.0. It writes at 2x dvdr and 8x cdr, slow compared to alot of cdrw burners but will copy PS2 dvd games no problems. So far i have copyed nascar heat 2002, klonoa2 and the bouncer. I use the same boot sequence for loading a ripped game, swap gameshark2 with original DOA2 wait for 10 sec ECT. I dont know if it's the best burner or not but it works great for me and i would highly recommend it...Hope this helps.

woodmaster101 - thanks to you my question has finally been answered. I have been trying to find out what dvd burner would successfully back up ps2 dvd rom titles. I am curious though - what about copy protection? Are there any particular specifications or rules to follow?

Maybe charlie can help me.

thanks,
doctorB

I'm not (yet) a DVD-R expert. Woodmaster101 has provided the answer I believe you need and this has been substantiated in earlier posts (August I think).

Thanks for the response Charlie. After making the last post I browsed around and realized that the pioneer A03 would do. I also browsed ####://www.ps2ownz.com/ and some other sites which reinforced my answer.

Thanks to you guys and this forum,

doctorB.
