Backup xbox hd to new hd for 2nd xbox

Hi,

I currently have a modded xbox with 160gb HD.

I bought a 2nd xbox to play with friends via a crossover cable. I am modding the new box with Aladdin Advance and now have a new seagate 120gb HD.

My task now is to prepare the new 120gig and copy some of the games and apps from my 160gig over so I can use it etc.

I have searched forums but find it a bit confusing. Is there a simple way to prepare the new Hard drive and copy some of the contents of the 160gig HD over ?

I don't know whether I am supposed to somehow connect the 2 hard drives together in the one xbox or maybe connect them via a crossover cable and ftp across to the new hd but then I have to do something to the new HD first do I ?

Please any help appreciated.

cheers
vik

Well, u can use slayers auto install to fdi it, but it is 100mb. You can also just use raw commands through evoX:
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-ftp.php

basiaclly, you copy the C and E partitions to your PC via FTP. Then burn evox to a cd/dvd. change hdd's, then load up evox in your xbox. Use the raw commands then copy C and E back to the xbox.

Thx alot guys

I appreciate yr advice and also like that website it is real kool !

I will go with the ftp plan and use the tutorial you linked... funny I never spotted that tutorial though I searched through that site... too many there and not well organised I think...

Has anyone any aladdin advance experience ? the chip is designed to be soldered direct to the mobo lpc points but I dont like that idea and I am gonna use a header pin.... just wondered if anyone here has tried that with an Aladdin ?

cheers

Well, i had the first x-ecuter and it was directly soldered as well. Was a bitch to remove so I'd stick with header pins or just add some wires.

I have the HD connected as per the tutorial that I read from the link posted.

I boot into the EvoX dash off the cd but then FlashFXP just hangs and wont connect.

I am using the same ip addresses setup from before and checked them inside evox.

The HD is totally blank as is brand new.

My flashfxp is v1.3 build 770 and the Raw commands are ghosted out so I dont see how I could format the drive anyway.

Does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong ? It is very frustrating and all tutorials assume a level of knowledge I obviously dont have..

Please help

So evoX does in fact boot, right? Check the settings in evox. The only way to change them is to reburn with an edited ini file. Anyways, go to settings, what is the IP address? Also, if it connects (i mean doesn't tell you connect failed until like 2 minutes after hanging), then it is probably a firewall blocking the connection. Try configuring it or turning it off.

Thx I got it sorted by reburning the evox disk.

the tutorial also fails to mention that you have to rename Evoxdash.xbe to default.xbe

It is maybe obvious to some but for noobs this is a crucial piece of info which leads to alot of wasted time and unnecessary frustration... I only figured it out by accident.
