xbox-scene.com has a turtorial that lists how to get started in IRC and then how to get a login for Xbins.

its easy to find
it just under tutorials then misc at x-s
xbins is good stuff

If you are new to IRC then here is a good starter link.

IRC's can be a good way to find information and files. They are basicly large scale chat rooms.
