I know a soaking with WD40 will release the glue. But Im not sure its good for the disc itself. I only use it on those AOL DVD cases they are sending now so I can get a free case minus the stikers.

I just think labels are a big waste of time for backups.

Tyler!

Lol, that's what I do too, and send the actual disc to nomoreaolcds.com! Saves having to buy the cases anyhow,

Don't want to say that your disc is ruined but I have had some bad labels om my CD-R and tried to take it off bu soaking it in water. All I can say that it is so easy to scratch the toplayer and then the water will ruin the disc by getting in under the toplayer.

I don't know if it was that I had bad luck, crappy CD-R but ruined it got.

So if you try to get the label off then be wery careful.. but on the other hand, the disc don't work now anyway...
Guess that all I wanted to say to you what happend to me so you would be aware of that it could happen.

*I know, I make no sense at all*

I've personally soak them in water a few time and they are not giving me any problems.

What I did was to put it face down (label) into the water, in such a way that it's still floating near the surface for 15 mins or so, after that, just peel off the top layer, exposing the glue. Spray some wd 40 and let it soak for 10sec or so, before gently rubbing the glue off using cd cleaning cloth.

Once all the glue are wiped off, I use very mild dish washing detergent mix with water to rinse off the wd40. To ensure a clean finish, use those compact disc cleaning solution to clean up the disc.

I've done that a couple of time and all the disc are still working perfectly.
