dvd player gives disk error

Hi,

This is my first post and would like to say hi before my problem. So HI

I am trying to backup my Bruce Almighty DVD onto a DVD+RW using a LiteOn LDW-411s. I used dvdshrink to rip the dvd and compress the dvd.

The first time I burned I used Nero 6.23 in DVD-Video mode. I dragged all files created by dvdshrink into the VIDEO_TS folder and burned in ISO 9660 without Joliet mode (in disc at once). Then I put the dvd into my daewoo dvd player and it loaded and got to the menu fine, however, when I clicked 'Play' on the menu it went to the green rating screen and then quit and said Disc Error. It played the deleted scenes and outtakes fine though so I'm not sure why it won't play the main video.

I then fully erased the dvd and burned using burnatonce using the guide over at dvdshrink's site. It burned fine but I got the same thing when I tried playing it in my standalone dvd player.

Both times the disc played fine in PowerDVD on windows xp. Is there a reason why it will work with no problems on my PC but not on my dvd player on my tv? Could I have ripped the DVD wrong in dvdshrink? I used all the default settings and didn't play with them any.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a million!

Abe

try using a dvd-r. that should solve your problem.
i dont think a dvd player can play dvd-rw media.

Just to clarify, it's a +RW and -RW disc. I'm confused then on why it would get to the menu and play the outtakes and deleted scences fine on the dvd player. Reason why I was putting it on the +RW was just to test my burner and it was the only disc I had I don't have any -R's yet because I'm not sure what discs are good and stuff...

Thanks,

Abe

Ritek and Verbatim are very good brands for backing up dvds and games. dvd -r is cheaper than +r and not very popular for back ups.
Try dvd-r media and that should solve your delema.
