I think Cactus Data Shield uses an integrated player.
Get clonyxxl to scan the cd for the protection. Then try CloneCD (there also exists an Cactus Data Shield profile somewhere on the web) to make a working backup. It is important to only read the first session of the CD. (Depending on your drives, though. My Tosh DVD will not read the cd, while my LG writer does the job perfectly). Good Luck!
