Light Gun problems with House of the Dead 2

The light gun, even after calibration, does not work properly.
It seems to jump around all over the screen, and does not shoot accurately, if on screen at all.
I had the 50hz PAL version of HOTD2, so I patched a 60hz (full screen NTSC) backup, and it has the same problem.
I am using the MadCatz gun. My DC is PAL.
Have not tried using VGA as yet.
Anyone else have similar problems, or a solution?
Rgds.

try playing this game without a vmu in the slot. i recall reading about this is another forum.

i tried this myself after having HOTD2 for 8 months without playing it. and it worked.

you should be able to calibrate your guns properly now. also adjusting the brightness and contrast may help

No joy, unfortunately.
Even after adjusting the TV every way I know (TV is Loewe Ergo 70cm), gun calibration does not work any better at all. Even if I can calibrate the first time on each of the 3 shots, the gun cursor jumps around inaccurately, and says it is pointing off the screen around 40-50% of the time.
This seems like some sort of PAL/NTSC problem, but like I said in the first post, I've got the problem with both versions!
Any other suggestions are welcome!
Rgds.
