Deviance No-Cd Graphics Problems

I have Deviance No-Cds for GTA Vice City and Jedi Academy. In VC the graphics load really slow e.g. If I drive up to an Ammo Nation store the inside takes about 6 seconds to draw. In JA there are purpilish/pink shimmering textures in various parts of the levels. These issues aren't present in the games when run of the original cd's. Is this due to the patches or is it something that has to be endured when using no-cds??

Thanks.

Must be the cracks then I guess.

Are you using latest versions ? I suggest to try that.

it isnīt a crack problem.
in the cracked exe, only the SecuROM was ripped off and the exe was rebuilded. no other changes.

updating your graphic drivers will help...

In the NFO file theres a big long rant that Deviance designed the NO-CD.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Trigger-happy

First things first, greetings & welcome to the forum, son.

According to what U described, seems it could be due to the crack after all, especially since the protection is Securom.

Very recent Securom protection schemes are often used in conjunction with multiple triggers scattered in the exe file. These triggers check for the presence of the CD throughout the game. Therefore, a "good patch" must also deactivate ALL these triggers as well. This means that to make sure his crack works, the cracker has to not only install, but also play the game to the end. Devilishly despicable. And clever.

So perhaps the triggers were actually removed (as the game keeps running without CD) but not "well removed", which might eaccount for the glitches you noticed. The @$%&#! bastards. How do they expect us to easily crack their games when raising so many obstacles in our way ? Sometimes I get the impression they just don't want their games to be cracked...

Then again, I'd be surprised that Deviance themselves made the patch, as they're a renowned team. I'd advise seeking another no-CD patch for the game.

Good luck - for it looks like you'll need it.

And may the force be with you...

Hi secondpost, I played through GTA:VC (version 1.0, the release) completely without a CD, with a no-CD patch. No such problems occurred ever. So, it must be that you're either using the wrong crack or there's something wrong with your machine anyway.

Joe

A better example of the problem is if you're driving along pretty fast small things like the grass verge between lanes don't load fully until you're passing that point while bigger things like buildings, cars etc load fine. I increased the draw distance of the game but it had no effect. It a kind of ghosting effect where smaller details fade in after a few seconds that the player is there.

Yeah. It happens regularly. For example last time I played it I was driving down into the wrecked building site (you know the one you blow up with the rc helicopters) to get the free armor and I kept bouncing off invisible poles around the edge for about 4 or 5 seconds when they faded into existence and I could see where to drive around them. Its very strange.

Well what has already been said.

The things that could fix it it:

Use original cd.
Update patch.
Update graphic card drivers.
Get Direct X 9.
