hi all. this may not be the right forum for this question but i will ask anyway, as most of you will probably know the answer. what is the best way to convert an AVI to MPG so as to put it onto a dvd. all the progs i have used lose sound sync. i use pinnacle expression to put it on to dvd, this will convert it but it reduces the quality, any suggestions.

I use TMPGEncoder to conver avi to mpg. Haven't done so in a while since I've had my DVD Burner

Hi,
I use the rather longer but more effective way of converting .AVI files to DVD. Firstly I use VirtualDub to extract the audio from the selected AVI file, using NO COMPRESSION. Save the new Audio track as a .WAV file. This stops the out of synch problem later. Then while the same AVI "video" source is selected, select the new .WAV file you have just created as your audio source. Then save the whole thing again as a new .AVI file. I then use ULEAD DVD Movie Factory to encode the new .AVI file into a DVD File. The use COPY TO DVD to author the DVD. Perfect everytime, unless .AVI file has any currupt sectors. This will also work for . Xvid files. But I'm still having problems with some DivX files. If you want a full, illustrated guide PM me and I'll forward one to you.
