I've got a proposition : how'd you like to play WITHOUT the cd in the drive AND with any future patch ? Knowing C&C, the game will probably be patched at least six times and if you want to play multiplayer, you'd need another crack each time. You can use Alcohol120% to make a hard disk image of the play cd and mount that, and you can then play without any crack, without the cd. If you're wondering why'd you go to all this trouble, remember that you'll have to either return the game, or use a crack to play, or use something like A120%. Just using the original will probably not work unless EA decides to cut out the copy protection in a future patch. To each his own, but I would surely recommend A120%. If A120% works, you can also use the free Daemon Tools to mount the image. Think about it.

PS We know the copy protection sucks, that's the reason GameCopyWorld exists.

Cool Problem SOLVED !!

Check to see if you have a virtual CD drive. Some CD burning software will
install this and it will appear as a drive when you double-click on the My
Computer icon. If you have more CD drives listed here than actual drives on your
machine, then you most likely have a virtual drive.

If you have a virtual drive, you may not be able to use Command and Conquer
Generals: Zero Hour on your system unless you disable or remove the virtual
drive.

YUP, this was it !!!! I had a virtual drive, i uninstalled it from my

device manager, and i got IN !! woohoo , didnt get to play it

yet, wanted to post this up, and the top part was EA's responce

back to my problem. Hope this helps out many who experience

the same as i did, thanks for all replys and help.

Just a suggestion for starting Zero Hour with out all the movies and logos.
1.go to the EA games Dir and rename the following files inside the generalszero/data/english folder.

EA_logo640.bik
EA_logo.bik
sizzle_review.bik
sizzle_review640.bik
(BTW nice intro movies).

2.Next go to properties of your desktop icon, and on the "TARGET LINE" use the following command line.

"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\generals.exe" -noshellmap

With this change you should go stright to the menu interface.

Buy those games. I'd have thought SutterKane would have been warning enough about this kind of thing, do I have to make another example ?

Well first I'd recommend using Alcohol 120% instead of Daemon Tools for your virtual drives.

A virtual drive will create a virtual CD-ROM (or DVD-ROM) drive on your Windows computer. It will show up in My Computer as an additional optical drive just like any other cd-rom drive.
The benefit of having such a thing is this:
You can create an image file of a game for example with a program of your choice (recommend Alcohol 120%). Now normally you would have to burn this image to a disk in order to use it, but with a virtual drive you could 'mount' the image so that it appears to be inserted into the virtual drive. The result is that Windows believes there to be a CD-ROM drive present with your game inserted into it.
You can use it like you would normally meaning you can avoid the need to use a real cd.

Hey everyone

I was wondering if it was possible to run a cracked zero hour with a cracked generals version.

Zero hour can run cracked with the original non cracked generals but not with a cracked version of generals.

Thanks for your help...

Simon

On a side note on generals, anyone know here ever try direct connect option for playing, anyone get lots of lag this way? Also anyone know a message board specifically for Zero Hour, its so hard finding GOOD people to play with, people online are usually....well if you play you should know.
