Securom 4.8/ US Version Jedi Academy

It's been 12 days since Jedi Academy came out and I'm getting worried. Can we expect a crack in the near future or is Securom 4.8 too hard to patch? I know it's next to impossible to make a 1:1 copy of but does that also apply to cracks and the like?

securom 4.8 has been cracked before, so it aint a crack issue. the problem is that jedi knight was already warezed (and was probably the uk verson) so the cracks existing for the game are for that version only

Are you simply looking for a No-CD crack? If so, the one on this site has worked for me on 3 machines (all mine). It's the latest gimpsRus crack (507 KB).

The file containes only a startmp.exe and a jasp.exe file. The key is to use the ORIGINAL jamp.exe file. SP and MP work perfect on all 3 w/ nocd. Now one thing I have done is I burned a copy of the original CD and use it it each machine. I don't know (or think) this makes a difference, but it is something I have done that I should mention. None of my back-up cd's can "run" the game unless it is cracked, but I do have them in the drives to play MP (kept getting a 'insert disk 1' error).

I hope this helps some of you out there!

Ok, this sounds quite like an idea.

I get the "Insert CD1" error in MP, too, when using the loader startmp.exe.
Can you give me advice how to make a working (at least for this way) copy of CD1? My drives seem to refuse making an image.

Could it be enough to copy the contents of CD1 on HDD and then burn them again on CDR, without image creation?

I'm not going to dispute what acidhead says above, but my way is VERY simple and it has worked for me. I still want to make a 1:1 copy someday so I've marked all of what acidhead has said.

I burned a copy of the retail (store bought) disk 1 using nero 5.5, so it's nothing new. I've even installed the game using copies of disk 1 and 2. I KEEP the original jamp.exe file, relpace the jasp.exe file and add the file startmp.exe to the gamedata folder (using the gimpsRus 507KB crack--all 3 of those files are in the same folder).

I can host or join using the copy of cd1 AND the crack. Launch MP from the standard launcher that pops up when you insert your CD (or shortcut). The key is using the ORIGINAL jamp.exe (I think) AND a disk.

I used to have every error that people have been talking about until I installed this crack (the 'cl_packet' error, the 'insert disk 1' error, the 'folder location' error). I've been watching this board (and several others) constantly looking for a working crack and finally tried the small gimpsRus one yesterday.

I am NOT an expert at this, but this did work for me. I hope this helps somebody.

But something sounds strange: you said you replaced JASP.EXE and copied the STARTMP.EXE to Gamedata and inserted CD1, and started Jedi Academy using the autostart popup screen.
This way would mean the popup screen runs JAMP.EXE, not STARTMP.EXE.

You also replaced JEDIACADEMY.EXE in the game folder with a cracked one that runs STARTMP.EXE? Otherwise STARTMP.EXE wouldn't even be used...and it also worked??

This is confusing me

I've tried it both ways, replacing the JEDIACADEMY.EXE with a cracked version and my way. Replacing the JEDIACADEMY.EXE resulted in errors for me and I had to uninstall/reinstall... that's why I waited so long to try the gimpsRus 507KB crack. I just got sick of trying cracks that froze up my bought version of the game. I can't say why the statmp.exe works... but it does for me (through the launcher). My copied/backup cd's do not work (as far as Securom goes), but they do allow me to launch MP with the gimpsRus 507KB crack.

If anybody else gets MP working my way, please post here. I'm curious to see how many other people have had success.

Just finished copying jedi acadamy(german) using my guide on securom 4 and the game works perfect.Its just a shame that i dont have the same amount of time to play the games as to what i invest to copy them

Just heard Razor1911 is supposed to have a new crack for the Jedi Academy retail. I assume it's for the US version. Anyone else heard about this yet?

It's been several days. Has anyone else been able to get Tux's method (gimpsRus 507k plus boot/copied disc) to work? Personally, I still get the "insert cd 1" message, but maybe other people are having more luck. And yeah, I'll let you guys know if I find a working crack-- odds appear slim though

The german JK3 version has definetely a Securom 2.9 copy protection - only disc 1.
There is no protection for disc 2.

securom 2.9 is VERY VERY VERY old so somehow i dont think its on jk3
