I would be able to use this site to install it??? and if so.. HOW? ))Are all the games installed in pretty much the same way if someone were to explain to me on how to get Half-life to install... ))..>>>and if im missing anything important.. oh... and what does the term CRACK mean?? and i see peeps asking about NOCD and such?? assuming that if you dont have the cd you would get that bit of info from site as opposed to if you did?? sorry for all the questions.. but like i said.. new to this site and this type stuff for computers.. I dont know quite what you mean by that. But to use and play the game, you will need a cd/dvd of it.. What did you think goes on here?

Just to clear up a few things. This is a site for the owners of LEGAL, BOUGHT cds. No warez or copies from friends/relatives etc. When you do have that, we provide ways to avoid using your original cd so it won't get damaged. This can be done through making/using backups or using cracks. If you lost your original cd, you're supposed to contact the publisher and ask for a replacement. You can try the nocds, but if they don't work, you're on your own. Also, if you don't have the cd anymore, you really can't install the game anymore until you get a replacement. And no, we don't host any games, just the cracks.

I understand this.. That is why I used the example of my half-life game.. So if I got this right.. I would download the game (off my cd).. get the patch and replace the .exe so it doesnt need the cd to run.. that way I can put it in the jewel case and not have to worry about it getting jacked up?.. (Do I understand this correctly??) Just trying to learn how to do this as to not mess anything up..

Yes, that's how it works, but we call it 'installing', not 'downloading off the cd'
BTW Half-life wasn't the best example, since this does not need the cd in the drive to play anyway

This refers to files with the extension .nfo, which are text files that contain additional information about the crack.

and "crack" means the part about getting around the part with needing the cd? (the patches?)

Yes, a crack is a way to disable copy protections. Cracks are either cracked executables (which you copy over the old ones with the same name) or patches, which change a game executable so the copy protection code gets skipped. There are fixed exe's (cracks with which you can use any backup cd, but which still need a cd in the drive) and nocd's (which don't need any cd in the drive to play). You can also use programs like Blindwrite and Alcohol120% to make backups, or make an image on the hard disk and emulate that as a kind of virtual cdrom.
