Cracked software CAN and DOES affect performace....(this is not in all cases but it does happen)

A while back, if you were using a cracked version of Clone CD or CDRWin (cant remember which) it would act as if it was burning discs just like it was supposed to do, but in reality the only thing you had was a nice shiny coaster....

Also, not all software requires a cd-key.... And even some that do will work regardless if the key is correct or not...(ie Microsoft Office 97) You could actually type in anything you wanted and it would install and work fine....(Hehe... Way to go Microsoft)

But regardless, this isnt your problem since you purchased it....

When I installed Nero 6, I didnt change any settings at all, at it works perfectly....

You might try completely uninstalling it and then reinstall it... (Make sure you remove all the registry settings also)

Also, in the Preferences tab under "Ultrabuffer" you can set it so that it will use whatever amount of Memory you want it to. I personally have mine set to Auto....
