Xbox Freeze When Dvds Install

I have a v1.0 xbox with x2 4977 I don't have evodash install anymore my xbox dvd drive just stop playing so I have this dvd player laying around it's a creative pc dvd dxr2 I heard that you can use almost any pc dvd I just want to use this drive so I can install evodash I took it out because I thought it was stopping my drive from playing I guest I was WRONG!
anyway whenever I start my xbox it would not get pass the intro logo I tried boot methods 1 and 2 and both failed when I unhook it from the pc dvd and back into my screw drive it loads pass the intro to xbox dash put it back and it freeze again I ordered a SAMSUNG SD-616T already MODIFIED with the flash 605 and solder I just wanted to setup the dash before I get it do you think hat I would have the same problem with the samsung like I am with the creative dvd what should I do.
