Boot Cd and Vga Box

I've downloaded Utopia 1.1. I have got a vga adapter from Brooklyn. I play the games with my Tft. It works fine.

Because of that I applied the vga patch. There was a description how to use it.

You have to put the bootcd in the dreamcast and to put off the monitor cable. It is a safty preauction to prevent the monitor from damaging. After that you should swap the disk with the game you want to play. In my case it was Phantasy Star online (us). Because I have got a pal dreamcast, I used the Utopia Bootdisk. So it worked fine. But my problem is there a bootcd which shows also the menu with the vgabox. Because I have no delight to change always the monitor cable.

Please help.

I mean is there a Bootloader, whom is possible to see the screen with the vgabox? And if you folks dont know. There is an online petition on www.liksang.de for the dreamcast. It would be a good idea to partcipate there. Maybe our favourite console woulr resurrect.

i believe that the hacked utopia disk (v1.2) has vga support so u can leave your monitor plugged in with that one but i have never tried it as i dont have a vga box!

Yeah. I know. The Utopia 1.2 has got vga support, but you cant see it, when you have plugged it to your dreamcast. It produces a signal, that could damage the monitor. It is wiser to unplug it. But today I tried it with normal Tv. The bootscreen shows nothing special. It only displays the cute dog, and to change the disk you want to play. Because of that I decided to be content with the result to unplug the cable and than to replug it. First I assumed, that you could select options and so on. But you cant.

nevermind i found it but my burner cant burn it

Yes. Your cd-recorder can burn it. i thought the moment I found it that my cd-recorder also cant burn it, though I had one of the newest cd-recorder. I dont know why, but I coudnt burn it with DiscJuggler the newest version and discjuggler old version. And Nero didnt help either. Therefore I had to think of an another way. Here you go.

To use the same circumstances.

Go to www.megagames.com. Then click under the menu Game Fixes the Console Games. Then click on Dreamcast. Then click under the menu Dc utilities and games to Dc Tools. After that you should click the Utopia and more menu. There you load the two files:
Utopia DC BootCD v1.1 - DiscJuggler Format
Utopia DC BootCD v1.1 VGA Patch.

You extract them to the same folders the two files.
After that you apply the vga patch.
Then you download Deamon Tool. It is virtual stealth cd rom- dvd rom. With that tool you only have to attach the Utopia DC BootCD v1.1 cdi file who was patched with the vgapatch in the step before. Then you start nero and make an 1:1 copy from virtual cd to cd-recorder. Without making an image before. There you go.

After that you can play it. You start your Dreamcast with the loader. Now you can play nonselfbootable cds and imports as I did with Phantasy Star Online. When you play it vgabox attached follow the steps I described before. you can see it in the same thread. The post before.

You can download Deamon Tools from Kazaa or Emule or by google. It is a powerful tool. It is avirtual cd-dvd rom. You can test your own backups iso*s cdi*s bin*s and so on before you burn them on empty cd. That way you can assure yourself if the iso you created with a burnproggie will work.

This way it will work. The other ways I just like you thought my cd-recorder cant burn it. Try it out. And post it on the thread when it works that way.

why go to all that trouble when u can just burn the cdi image with alcohol 120%,it's much more user friendly and works with loads more cd writers than diskmangler!
