Exclamation Warning to All Paypal Users

I know this is off topic, but it is important.

I got this email on Tuesday from what is made to look like paypal. It is not. If you get an email like this do NOT log in or fill out the forum. The form ask for tons of info like your social security # and your credit card #. All paypal websites begin with https, the text in the email link starts with https, but put your mouse over it or click on it and it takes you to a site that begins with http. I even called paypal service and they said they would never ask for this info after you have already signed up, as they already have your info. I have enclosed a screenshot of the email.

Screenshot Here

I has something similar but was email as if it was from Ebay saying that my acct. was messed up and i need to click the link to re-enter all info. Look just like ebay with the logos and that. The link that you needed to click showed an address of www.updateebay.net so i knew that it was a fraud. So beware on that too!

Thanks Charlie. I almost gave into the email myself. I would hate to see any of my forum buddies here fall into a scam like this, so I thought a heads up was appropiate.

You submitted that info? Close all of your accounts, checking, credit, everything immediatly. Change your paypal password as well. Tell your bank everything that you submitted and get it all changed. Best of luck to you buddy.

I had the same thing happen to me but it was from a fraud posing as Best Buy online. The funny thing was that I had never used or bought anything online with Best Buy. So I looked at the source code of the email and the web addresses they where using had nothing to do with Best Buy all though in the email the web address looked like it did. Two days latter I got an email from Best Buy them selves stating the email was from a fraud and if you had filled out any information they asked for to do what bighap said. This was only a few weeks ago and since then I have had 3 other fraudulent emails posing as other online services. There seams to be a rash of this going around. Everyone be wary of emails asking for any information like this, even if it looks official.

Bogus Wins

I had some bloke turn up on my doorstep with a cnn news crew saying I`d won the National lottery.

He tried to give me a suitcase with 2.5 million in it but I was having none of it, I punched him on the nose and slammed the door!

Did I do good?

Thats some scary stuff. At least people should look on the address bar when going to a site instead of clicking links just to be on the safe side. Then again.. scary...
