Keeping the DVD region-free:

Guys, I noticed that there is a message on my hardware options, where I can change the DVD region, that says that I can do that change a limited number of times (3 times left for me), then it's settled for good, not changing even if I re-install wiondows.

I'd like to know... is there anyway I can prevent that from happening, and keep it region-free forever?

My device is a LG-GMA 4020B internal.

Thanks.

I'm a bit afraid. There says that it can damage my drive.

What is the procedure to make the firmware flashing work without problems?

Thanks.

It is highly unlikely that you will screw up your drive by upgrading. Almost everybody flashes their drives. I have done it several times. You have about a 1% chance of it not working. Just follow the directions that is included with the firmware.

I use a program called DVD Region Free and it works every time for me as I locked my pioneer 105 dvd player to R1 by accident (was playing a round with the drive settings) I got the little program from www.idle.com hope this helps.

It's that it costs $ 33,00... it's a lil expensive...

Besides, it would be better if it were free for good, and never had to worry about that again...

I do not know if there are any other programs out there that do the same as this one (have never looked) but this program starts up with your DVD player software and makes the drive region free it tricks the pc in to thinking it’s the right region for the disc.

May be there are othere programs that are free but i have not found one yet the only other way to go ist the firmware update.
